Resting in Jesus Christ’s Rest!

Resting in Jesus Christ’s Rest!

Is gathering on Sunday, the first day of the week, “unholy”?

Jesus taught on the Sabbath.
Jesus healed on the Sabbath.
Jesus worked on the Sabbath.
Jesus rested on the Sabbath.
Jesus kept the Sabbath Holy.

We are called by Christ to be like Christ.
We are called to do things as Christ did things.

We are called to observe the Sabbath, the way Jesus observed the Sabbath.
We are called to rest on the Sabbath, the way Jesus rested on the Sabbath.
We are called to keep the Sabbath Holy, as Jesus kept the Sabbath Holy.

Jesus worked on the Sabbath, so we can work on the Sabbath, as long as that work is God’s Will.

Does this mean working on the Sabbath is not resting?
Does this mean working on the Sabbath makes the Sabbath unholy?
The answer to both questions is a resounding “NO”!

Jesus has shown me, and many others, that it is possible to work on the Sabbath and still rest on the Sabbath!
Jesus has shown me, and many others, that it is possible to work on the Sabbath and still keep the Sabbath Holy!

So, how is gathering on the first day of the week “unholy”?

Gathering on the first day of the week is NOT “unholy”!
Neither is gathering on Sunday the mark of the beast!

Please study the following Scriptures from the Holy Bible!

. . .

Matthew 28:1, 5-6 KJV
1  In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
5  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6  He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

. . .

Mark 16:2, 4-6, 9 KJV
2  And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
4  And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.
5  And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.
6  And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
9  Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

. . .

Luke 24:1, 6-7 KJV
1  Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
6  He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
7  Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

. . .

John 20:1, 14, 16 KJV
1  The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
14  And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
16  Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

. . .

Christians started assembling themselves the very day Jesus raised Himself from the dead, and that day was Sunday, the first day of the week.

Jesus approved of them assembling on the first day of the week, because Jesus met them there in the upper room.

Jesus is God, and He did NOT come against them for gathering together on the first day of the week.

Please show me a scripture which says assembling ourselves together on the first day of the week is wrong!

Christians don’t just worship Jesus one day a week.
We worship Jesus EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK!

We meet at least 2 times a week, and sometimes we meet 3 times a week, or more!

. . .

John 20:19 KJV
19  Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

. . .

Acts 20:7 KJV
7  And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

. . .

Whether or not a person observes the Sabbath is between that person individually and Jesus Christ, and is NOT to be determined by any group or congregation!

Are YOU judging your brother or sister for not observing the Sabbath the way YOU think he or she should observe the Sabbath?

Are you calling a brother or sister an antichrist for observing the first day of the week?

If you are, then expect to be condemned by Jesus and HIS Saints for doing it!

. . .

Romans 14:1-14 KJV
1  Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
2  For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3  Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
4  Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
5  One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6  He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
7  For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8  For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.
9  For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10  But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11  For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12  So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13  Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.
14  I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

. . .

1 Corinthians 3:11-17 KJV
11  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12  Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13  Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14  If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15  If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17  If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

JESUS IS OUR REST!
GIVE EVERY DAY TO JESUS!

REMEMBER!
LIVE IN JESUS CHRIST’S REST!
WALK IN JESUS CHRIST’S REST!
WORK IN JESUS CHRIST’S REST!
REST IN JESUS CHRIST’S REST!
TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST’S REST!
GOD BLESS YOU!

. . .

HERE ARE VERSES SAYING JESUS IS OUR REST!

. . .

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
28  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

. . .

Acts 2:25-27 KJV
25  For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
26  Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
27  Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

. . .

Acts 7:49 KJV
49  Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

. . .

2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV
9  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

. . .

2 Thessalonians 1:7 KJV
7  And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

. . .

Hebrews 3:9-12 KJV
9  When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10  Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11  So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
12  Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

. . .

Hebrews 3:17-19 KJV
17  But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
18  And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19  So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

. . .

Hebrews 4:1-13 KJV
1  Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2  For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3  For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4  For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5  And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6  Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7  Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8  For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9  There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10  For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11  Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13  Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

. . .

Revelation 14:11 KJV
11  And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

. . .

Revelation 14:13 KJV
13  And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

. . .

We should TRY (TEST) doctrine, whether it be from Jesus or satan!

. . .

1 John 4:1 KJV
1  Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

. . .

Not everyone who says they are of Christ are of Christ!
ANYONE who tries to replace CHRIST’S WORKS with other works, when teaching about Salvation, are in error, and are NOT Christ’s Saint!

. . .

It is iniquity to boast in YOUR works.
It is iniquity to claim YOU are doing the works.
If you are trusting in YOUR WORKS to save you then Jesus will one day say to you,
“DEPART FROM ME, YE THAT WORK INIQUITY.”

. . .

Matthew 7:21-23 KJV
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

. . .

John 6:39-40 KJV
39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

. . .

If your salvation is from Jesus, then Jesus will work through you, and any work that arises will be Jesus working through you.
However, anyone can imitate those works and still not be saved or Born Again.
It is when Jesus leads you to do something that the work has life, power, and meaning!

. . .

Here’s scriptures showing Salvation is by Faith and NOT works.

. . .

Isaiah 64:6 KJV
6 But we are ALL as an unclean thing, and ALL our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we ALL do fade as a leaf; and OUR iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

. . .

James 2:23 KJV
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham BELIEVED God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

. . .

John 3:16-18 KJV
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

. . .

Romans 3:21-28 KJV
21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

. . .

Romans 4:1-8 KJV
1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

. . .

Romans 4:13-16 KJV
13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
(Abraham is the father of our faith!)

. . .

Romans 9:30-33 KJV
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

. . .

Galatians 2:16 KJV
16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

. . .

Galatians 3:1-3 KJV
1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh (works)?

. . .

Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

. . .

2 Timothy 1:9 KJV
9 (GOD,) Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

. . .

1 John 1:8-10 KJV
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth (JESUS CHRIST) is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he (JESUS CHRIST) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him (JESUS CHRIST) a liar, and his (GOD’S) word is not in us.

. . .

IT IS JESUS WHO KEEPS US SAVED, BECAUSE JESUS IS GOD!

. . .

Psalms 12:7 KJV
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

. . .

2 Thessalonians 3:3 KJV
3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

. . .

Jude 1:24 KJV
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

. . .

2 Samuel 22:33 KJV
33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.

. . .

Psalms 37:40 KJV
40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

. . .

Psalms 55:16 KJV
16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.

. . .

Psalms 92:4 KJV
4 For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

. . .

Hebrews 13:20-21 KJV
20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

. . .

James 5:15 KJV
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

. . .

Acts 13:38-39 KJV
38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man (Jesus Christ) is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
39 And by him (Jesus Christ) all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

. . .

Acts 15:10-11 KJV
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

. . .

Romans 5:1-2 KJV
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

. . .

Galatians 3:13-14 KJV
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

. . .

Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

. . .

Philippians 4:13 KJV
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
